Bolger optimistic over Lashes in Oaks

Lush Lashes races in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks at Newmarket tomorrow (Friday, August 22nd), with trainer Jim Bolger confident she can claim victory.

The filly came a close second in the Nassau Stakes to Halfway to Heaven at Glorious Goodwood, that coming after in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Now Bolger believes the daughter of Galileo looks in good enough form to take advantage of the suitable ground at Newmarket.

He told the Press Association: "The g

Juddmonte rescheduled to Friday

The late abandonment of the opening day of the Ebor festival in York has meant that the Juddmonte International Stakes has been rescheduled for this Friday (August 22nd).

Heavy rain overnight at the Knivesmire course meant that following an inspection the showpiece Juddmonte International Stakes could not go ahead today (Tuesday, August 19th).

Duke set for York test

Tomorrow's (Tuesday, August 19th) Juddmonte International at York will feature King George winner Duke of Marmalade, trainer Aidan O'Brien has confirmed.

The four-year-old has been put forward by his owners for the Group One, despite heavy ground which caused pundits to raise doubts over whether he would be entered.

O'Brien commented: "Conditions will be far from ideal for him but the owners are prepared to let him take his chance."

Frankie Dettori's understudy will get a chance to ride up to 400 horses after Sheikh Mohammed spent £200 million on the Woodlands Stud racing and thoroughbred development in New South Wales.

Dream Eater looking for "step-up"

Dream Eater can find the form to win the BGC Sussex Stakes over Henrythenavigator at Glorious Goodwood on Wednesday (July 30th).

That is the view of the trainer Andrew Balding, who has every confidence his charge can improve on a fifth place finish behind its rival in the Newmarket 2000 Guineas.

"He's run two very solid races this year but obviously he'd have to step up on that to give the principals a run for their money," Balding told the Press Association.

Ramonti to miss Goodwood defence

Ramonti will not defend the BGC Sussex Stakes at Goodwood on (Wednesday, July 24th) amid fears that the horse's career could be at an end.

Godolphin's six-year-old won the Queen Anne Stakes and Hong Kong Cup last year but was forced to take a long lay-off with injury.

After making a comeback from the hind leg infection, the signs were encouraging for Ramonti, who finished fifth behind Archipenko in the Summer Mile at Ascot earlier in the month.

Marmalade attracting King George attention

Duke of Marmalade is attracting a lot of attention ahead of the King George at Royal Ascot this Saturday (July 26th).

Ten confirmations have been taken so far at the five-day stage for the Group One including the Prince of Wales's Stakes winner.

The Sunday Mirror's Gary Nutting compared the four-year-old to its former Ballydoyle stable-mate Dylan Thomas, who won last year's King George.

He said: "Although Dylan Thomas finished ahead of the Duke in their two cl

Tamayuz goes for 2nd Group One

Trainer Freddie Head is preparing Tamayuz for a shot at the mile-long Prix Jacques le Marois on August 17th after his win in the Prix Jean Prat.

The colt won comfortably in the Group One at Chantilly on Sunday (July 13th), ridden by David Bonilla, and is now being lined up for the race at Deauville next month.

Head was pleased with Tamayuz's most recent showing after the three-year-old fared badly in the French 2000 Guineas after receiving an unfavourable draw.
