2008 Cheltenham Festival races preview: Day 3
A frantic reshuffling has taken place to ensure that no races are dropped from the 2008 Cheltenham Festival in the aftermath of the cancellation of the second day of racing. The new Cheltenham Festival 2008 card for day three will feature no less than ten Cheltenham Festival races.
The Peter O' Sullevan National Hunt Chase is up first with Ornais taking on Over the Creek.
The rescheduled 3 mile ½ furlong Royal & Sun Alliance Chase features Air Force One and Albertas Run as favourites.
The 2 mile 5 furlong Jewson Novices Handicap Chase looks set to be dominated by Dear Villez whose nearest rivals, Arturo and Barber’s Shop, are priced a long way out.
The Seasons Holidays Queen Mother Champion Chase will see Tamarinbleu and Voy Por Ustedes looking to keep the two Paul Nicholls horses, Master Minded and Twist Magic, out of the first of the day's feature Cheltenham festival races.
The 3 mile ½ furlong Ryanair Chase will see Mossbank and Our Vic line up as race favourites.
The second feature race of the day is the 3 mile Ladbrokes World Hurdle. Inglis Drever is such a compelling favourite that many bookmakers are offering bets which exclude the predicted winner.
The 2 mile 5 furlong Racing Post Plate Handicap Chase gets a series of handicap Cheltenham Festival races underway. Don’t Push It leads the pack at low odds, with Bible Lord trailing far behind in the odds tables.
The 3 mile Pertemps Final Handicap Hurdle will feature Robin du Bois and Backboard, who have both built their reputations as favourites during a series of qualifying races.
The 4 mile 1 furlong Kim Muir Challenge Cup Handicap Chase is a truly daunting prospect for stayers under weights. The race features a strong field led by My Immortal and will be exceptionally tough to call.
The 2 mile ½ furlong Weatherby’s Champion Bumper provides a low-key conclusion to the day’s Cheltenham Festival races. Apt Approach and Zaarito are favourites to take this national hunt flat race.
